Buy your ticket for the Gornergrat Railway here.
During the summer months, the Gornergrat Railway is very busy in the mornings. We recommend to travel before 9 am or after 12.00 noon. Or you secure your place with our priority boarding, which guarantees you a seat at the window (Attention: limited contingent - early booking is worthwhile).
A ticket from Zermatt to Gornergrat and back can be used for a return journey within 10 days of the chosen travel date.
Yes. You may use your ticket to get off at every way station and then get on again later and continue your journey. However, each section may only be travelled once per direction.

With the following travel tickets you can benefit from a 50% discount on the Gornergrat Railway:
General season ticket
Half-fare season ticket
Children from 6 to 15.99 years (without a Junior Card, Children’s Co-Travel Card, Family Card STS)
Swiss Half-fare Card
Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Travel Pass Flex Combi, Swiss Travel Pass Youth and Youth Flex
With the Eurail Pass, the SBB day pass and the municipality day pass you have no discount on the ride up the Gornergrat.
In summer, children up to 5.99 years and in winter up to 8.99 years travel free of charge on the Gornergrat. Children with the following travel tickets also travel free up to the Gornergrat:
Junior Card
Children’s Co-Travel Card
Family Card STS
Wollicard (the whole year until 8.99 years old)
And your dog can travel up to the Gornergrat with you for free.
Groups of 10 or more receive a 30% discount on the ticket price. Additional valid discount cards (GA, 1/2 etc.) will be taken into account.
The best way is to buy your ticket online. You can download your ticket directly onto your SwissPass or print it out at home (print@Home). You will find a QR code on your voucher that will then give you a ticket from one of our ticket machines before you start your journey. You can also buy a ticket at the counter or from a ticket machine at the Gornergrat valley station. Täsch station (Matterhorn Terminal Täsch) also has ticket counters and machines where you can buy a ticket to Zermatt and also for the Gornergrat.
