Information about your evening at the cinema
The cinema area is located on the Riffelalp at 2,222 metres above sea level. From Riffelalp railway station, it is only a short walk through the picturesque larch forest to the Riffelalp OpenAir Cinema.
Gornergrat Railway takes you from Zermatt to the Riffelalp in 15 minutes. The film screenings start at 8.00 pm. We recommend that you take the train at 6.24 pm and enjoy the Cinema Food Stand and the incredible view before the film. The latest departure from Zermatt is at 7.24 pm.
The return journey from Riffelalp is at 10.58 pm. You arrive back in Zermatt at 11.15 pm with a connection to Täsch at 11.30 pm.
From 6.30 pm, you can buy snacks and drinks at the food stalls in the cinema area.
If you want to treat yourself to something very special, book the “Ciné & Dîner” offer at the Ristorante Al Bosco on the Riffelalp. The cinema ticket costs CHF 20.15 per person. We recommend the combined ticket including the Zermatt-Riffelalp-Zermatt train trip for CHF 48.15
With the Coop Supercard you get a 25% discount on your cinema ticket (the offer is limited and can only be purchased online in advance at www.coopopenaircinema.ch, no Supercard tickets can be purchased via other pre-sale channels or at the box office!).
When purchasing a combined ticket (cinema ticket + train ticket), the barcode on the cinema ticket ensures direct passage through the turnstile. You don’t need to exchange the ticket at the counter.
Booked cinema tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded. You can purchase insurance in the course of the booking process to get a refund in case of illness etc.
If an event is cancelled (due to weather conditions), you will be notified by e-mail no later than 1 pm on the day of the performance. You will receive a refund of the total price of the cinema ticket from the organiser.
Rail tickets can be refunded in accordance with T600.9 of Swiss public transport. In this case, please apply for a refund using the online form.
The film screenings take place in all weather conditions, except in storms or thunderstorms. Make sure you have something warm to wear with you and choose sturdy footwear. At 2,222 metres above sea level, it can also get very cool in summer.
