From 3:30 pm, the ascent begins at a calmer pace. The cogwheel train glides through the alpine landscape, passing meadows, rock faces and glaciers, accompanied by the softer light of the afternoon.

While many are already heading back down, a new sense of calm emerges at the top. The panorama feels wider, the colours clearer, the moment more intense. With every metre of altitude, the Matterhorn moves further into focus – present, still, and free of distraction.
