Who hasn’t seen them before, the famous, black-nosed sheep from Zermatt? Their spiralled horns, black faces and ears and white woolly coat - which is special in itself. During the months from June to September these sheep graze on the Gornergrat. So that you can have the chance to see these sheep when you are on the Gornergrat this summer we have made it really easy for you. They wear collars that can be tracked with GPS and every visitor will be able to locate them. As soon as you find the signal on the app that finds them you only have to follow the map to meet them close up. The shepherdess who keeps her eye on them will be there too and can give you lots of interesting facts about these animals and their environment.
Can you never get enough of these sheep?
If that’s the case we have a great offer for you: every Saturday the Gornergrat Railway runs a guided walk to the black-nosed sheep. Included is an aperitif as well as the tour to the sheep. Waiting with the sheep is the shepherdess who is happy to tell you all about them and give you lots of information about the sheep and their way of life. The tour can be booked every Saturday in addition to your Gornergrat ticket for CHF 35.00.
